Power Yoga with Cheryl

​Power Yoga is a vigorous flowing sequence of poses designed to warm the muscles helping you to stretch, flex and tone with the added bonus of some relaxation and meditation time! Power Yoga isn’t a regimented Yoga Style which gives us the freedom to change the poses we perform each session! Remember you don’t need to be flexible to do Yoga – Just willing to have a go!

A little bit about me and my yoga journey. I found yoga in my early 20’s – it provided an amazing workout, I was never a gym junkie but loved that I could feel so much strength holding these poses/stretches just using my own body weight! Apart from the physical benefits – the mental and spiritual gains although different for everyone can be profound and life changing. My own experience has been to appreciate all the little things, the little moments that we sometimes take for granted. To be mindful of enjoying the moment, being kind to yourself and connecting to those around you and your environment

Originally from Gladstone, my husband and I have made Townsville our home after travelling and working in Newcastle, Brisbane, Broome and the Whitsundays. Loving the warm, healthy, outdoor lifestyle of NQ – in my downtime you’ll find me near the water reading supernatural fiction! Look forward to seeing everyone on the mat soon!

Power Yoga with Kirra

Coming principally from a strong sporting background, Kirra is enthusiastic about spreading the word on the benefits of yoga to improve athletic movement and performance. Since completing her Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher Training Course in Mysore, India, Kirra has taught classes in Australia and overseas for individuals with varying levels of yoga experience. Her yoga practice is firmly grounded around the correct alignment of asanas (physical postures) and the union of movement with breath for energy and to still the mind.
She is also a practicing Registered Nurse with an in-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology, and uses this experience to help students of varying levels find modifications to their yoga practice. This encourages safe and individualised progression into more advanced or deeper asanas. Her nursing has also reinforced the value and importance of nurturing both mental and physical elements of our health, and Kirra is passionate about promoting yoga a tool to work with and maintain the health of our bodies and minds. By incorporating elements of various yoga disciplines, her energetic Power Flow classes work to combine practical strength building with increasing flexibility. In this manner, participants are supported to increase their awareness of how to activate, engage, control and support their bodies and heads, and grow in their yoga practice both on and off the mat.

Terms and Conditions. Classes paid for online are 100% refundable up until 48 hours before the specified class time, after this time no refund will be processed. If you need to cancel please do so online through the Mind Body site, APP or contact us in store to remove your booking and process your refund.

Although we are open, we are not yet running at full capacity. Some of our classes have been temporarily suspended until we can effectively manage our COVID Safe Plan for climbing and sustain the cost of running classes again.

Rock Monkeys – Term 3 enrolments are currently open 

Technique Tuesdays – resume on the 14th July (Tuesdays 6-7pm)

ClimbFit – resume on the 20th July (Mondays 6-7pm)

Aerial Silks – resume on the 22nd of July (Wednesdays 6-7pm – must have completed beginner course)

COVID-19 Update

We are excited to announce that we will be re-open to the general public on Monday, 29th June 2020. (bookings required).

The health and well-being of our customers and staff are important to us, and we have been hard at work preparing the gym so that it remains a safe space for our community to enjoy!  We welcome everyone back on our walls and thank you in advance for cooperating with our new COVID Safe Policies and Procedures. Please stay home if you are feeling unwell, and note that powdered chalk is no longer allowed (liquid chalk only), as well as walking around with bare feet (bring appropriate footwear to slip on between climbs if required).
